If you're a mum, you could hint LOUDLY that Mothers Day and National Sewing Month coincide and "wouldn't it be just fabulous to get a new sewing machine for Mothers Day!"

Or your could grab Mum and head off to one of the great Australian Sewing Guild National Sewing Month events happening around the country!

The Adelaide Fringe Wrap Up

This year the Plympton ASG group hosted an Event at the Adelaide Fringe Festival called 'The ASG Opens It's Seams'. Aside from the event itself, the ASG was invited to the exclusive launch party that celebrates the launch of the Fringe program. The ASG was paid to sew a whopping 150m of fabric bunting and 70 headscarves for Fringe staff. Steph &Sarah stitched up the bunting and wrote this tutorial for sewing large quantities of bunting after theyfinished. Margaret, Sandra and Jenny stitched up the headscarves, adding a the ASG logo to each one. The headscarves were made from stash and so many staff came to say thank you and tell us how much they enjoyed picking through all the different patterns! Long after the event I saw these scarves being worn around town, so I think they were quite popular. The pics below are from the Fringe Launch (yes, it's a pity they put Sewer rather than Sewing on the signage).

Well the ASG Fringe Event was fabulous! Amazing textile artist Cheryl Bridgart came by and a fabulous chat while grabbing some fabric. Wonderful bloggers Juanita from Juanita Tortilla & Miriam from Create Hope Inspire came along, as did the fabulous Pixi from Junktion plus lots & lots of other visitors! We even had visitors from other guilds, keen to see what we get up to and get involved. Fun was had, many patterns and metres of fabric swapped homes. Thank you to everyone who visited, we hope to see you again! For those of you who couldn't make it, here are some pics....
